Be Intentional About Your Seed

December 6th, 2025.

“Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A man reaps what he sows.” (Galatians 6:7)

The principle of sowing and reaping is universal: whatever seed you plant will determine the harvest you receive. Galatians 6:7 warns us not to be deceived — the harvest is inevitable, and God Himself oversees the process. This means we must be intentional about the seeds we sow.

Every thought, word, and action is a seed. What you allow yourself to hear, what you say to yourself, and what you speak into the lives of others will grow and multiply. If you sow encouragement, you will reap joy. If you sow criticism, you will reap bitterness. If you sow faith, you will reap strength. The garden of your life produces nothing of itself; it simply multiplies the seed planted.

This principle applies to ministry as well. The kind of words or messages you sow into people’s lives determines the kind of disciples you raise. If you sow truth, you will raise people of truth. If you sow compromise, you will raise people of compromise. Ministry is not neutral; it reflects the seeds sown.

Intentional sowing requires discernment. We must examine the seeds we are planting and ask: Do they align with God’s Word? Do they reflect His character? Do they build up or tear down? Proverbs 11:30 says, “The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life.” When we sow righteousness, we produce fruit that brings life to others.

Being intentional also means correcting wrong seeds. If the fruit in your life is undesirable, do not blame the garden — examine the seed. Change what you are sowing, and the harvest will change. God’s mercy allows us to uproot bad seeds and plant new ones.

Ultimately, intentional sowing reflects faith in God. By planting seeds of love, truth, and obedience, we trust Him to bring forth a harvest that glorifies His name. Isaiah 61:11 assures us that just as the earth brings forth sprouts, so the Lord will cause righteousness and praise to spring up. Be intentional about your seed, and you will automatically affect the quality of your harvest.

Prayer

Lord, help me to be intentional about the seeds I sow. Teach me to plant words, actions, and thoughts that honor You and produce fruit of righteousness. May my life and ministry reflect Your glory. Amen.
