Faith That Acts
November 12th, 2025.
Mark 5:27–28 (NIV) – “When she heard about Jesus, she came up behind him in the crowd and touched his cloak, because she thought, ‘If I just touch his clothes, I will be healed.’”
Faith is not just a feeling or a confession—it is a decision that leads to action. The woman with the issue of blood didn’t just believe; she moved.
Faith that moves God is faith that moves us. The woman in Mark 5 had suffered for twelve long years. She had spent all she had on doctors, yet her condition worsened. But when she heard about Jesus, something shifted. She didn’t wait for an invitation or a guarantee—she acted.
Her faith was expressed through movement. She pressed through the crowd, risking rejection and ridicule, just to touch the edge of His garment. That touch wasn’t casual—it was intentional.
It was loaded with belief. And Jesus felt it. “Who touched me?” He asked, because power had gone out from Him. This is the power of faith in action. It doesn’t wait for ideal conditions. It doesn’t ask for permission. It moves toward the promise.
In Mark 6:56, we see that many others followed her example. “They begged him to let them touch even the edge of his cloak, and all who touched it were healed.” Her act of faith became a model for others. Faith is contagious when it’s visible.
Faith that acts is not reckless—it’s responsive. It hears the Word and moves. James 1:22 says, “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Faith hears and obeys.
Think of Peter stepping out of the boat in Matthew 14. He didn’t wait for the storm to calm. He walked on water because Jesus said, “Come.” His action was his faith.
Faith that acts may look like starting a ministry, applying for a job, forgiving someone, or sowing a seed. It may be small, like sending a message or showing up. But every step taken in obedience is a declaration: “I believe.”
God responds to movement. He honors obedience. He meets us in motion. The woman in Mark 5 didn’t just receive healing—she received affirmation. “Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace.”
So today, ask yourself: What is the step God is asking you to take? What action will demonstrate your belief? Don’t wait for the crowd to clear. Press through. Touch the hem. Move in faith.
Prayer
Lord, I thank You for the example of faith in action. Help me to move toward You with boldness and obedience. Show me the steps I need to take, and give me the courage to act. I believe, and I choose to demonstrate that belief through movement. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
