Inspiring Greatness in Others
December 7th, 2025.
“David left Gath and escaped to the cave of Adullam. Soon his brothers and all his other relatives joined him there. Then others began coming—men who were in trouble or in debt or who were just discontented—until David was the leader of about 400 men.” (1 Samuel 22:1–2)
Exceptional leaders possess the ability to inspire greatness in others. David’s leadership transformed men who were distressed, indebted, and discontented into mighty warriors (2 Samuel 23:8). He did not leave people the same way he found them; he inspired them to rise above their circumstances.
This principle is seen in the New Testament as well. Acts 4:13 records that Peter and John, once fearful and ordinary, became bold leaders after being with Jesus. Paul later referred to them as “pillars” in Galatians 2:9. True leadership inspires transformation.
Inspiration is not about motivational speeches; it is about living a life that calls others higher. Exceptional leaders model courage, faith, and perseverance, and in doing so, they awaken those qualities in others.
Jesus is the ultimate example. His presence transformed fishermen into apostles, tax collectors into evangelists, and ordinary men into world changers. Exceptional leaders carry this same ability — to inspire greatness by pointing people to God’s purpose for their lives.
Inspiration requires vision. Leaders must see beyond the present struggles of those they lead and call them into their future potential. David saw warriors in men who were broken. Jesus saw apostles in men who were ordinary. Exceptional leaders see greatness where others see failure.
Ultimately, inspiring greatness is about faith. Leaders believe in God’s ability to transform lives, and they call people to rise into that transformation.
Prayer
Lord, help me to inspire greatness in others. May my life reflect Your power and call people to rise above their limitations. Amen.
