Investing Greatness into Others

December 8th, 2025.

“He appointed twelve that they might be with him and that he might send them out to preach and to have authority to drive out demons.” (Mark 3:14–15)

Exceptional leaders do not merely inspire; they invest. Jesus met His disciples as crude fishermen, tax collectors, and ordinary men, but He poured Himself into them until they became great leaders who changed the world. He taught them, imparted to them, and spent quality time with them until they were ready to be sent out (Luke 9:1–2; Luke 10:1,17).

Leadership is meaningful only when it produces changed lives. If a leader does not invest in people, their lives remain the same. Matthew 4:19 shows Jesus inviting His disciples to follow Him, promising to make them “fishers of men.” His investment transformed them from followers into leaders.

Investing in others requires time, patience, and sacrifice. It means teaching, mentoring, and walking alongside people until they grow. Exceptional leaders see their success not in personal achievements but in the testimonies of those they have raised.

Paul modeled this principle by discipling Timothy and others, entrusting them with the gospel. Exceptional leadership multiplies itself by investing in others who will carry the vision forward.

Investment is not optional; it is essential. Leaders who fail to invest in others may achieve temporary success, but they will not leave a lasting legacy. Jesus’ investment in His disciples ensured that His mission continued after His ascension. Exceptional leaders understand that their greatest achievement is the growth of those they lead.

Prayer

Lord, teach me to invest in others as You invested in Your disciples. Help me to pour into lives so they may grow into the fullness of Your calling. Amen.

Reflection Question

Who are the people God has placed in your life to invest in, and how can you begin today?
